Voyager 'buck and bobble'

Discussion in 'Voyager' started by Rowlinson Carter, Oct 11, 2005.

  1. 1998 two-litre Voyager with 100,000 miles drives ok in top gear at constant
speed but in lower speeds seems to misfire. After idling at standstill for
any period, it loses all power as if engine were flooded.

Three garages, including main dealer, have tried everything imaginable over
three years at vast expense: new ECU, plugs, fluids, gaskets, emissions
sensors, exhaust boxes etc. All to no avail.

Main agents had vehicle for five months and still threw up their hands. The
condition is known as 'buck and bubble' and said to be incurable. Can this
    be true?

When you say *two litre* are you referring to the 2.4 litre?

In the diagnosis, did they check the fuel system, along with the
camshaft and crankshaft sensors. If the sensors are not triggering at
the correct intervals, the timing will be off, and cause any number of
    problems.

He's talking about a European Voyager. They can be had with a 2 litre, or a
diesel niether of which is available here in states.
