What's wrong with a map.
It should be illegal to play with a GPS while driving!

 

But it's OK to unfold a map while driving?

 

No.

It's OK to glance at a pre-folded map, just as it is OK to glance at a
GPS unit. Planning pays dividends.

Lack of planning, requiring manipulating either of them, is what steals
from available attention span.
