Are you suggesting that the 'mechanics' employed by Crappy Tire are all
monkeys?.. that would certainly answer why they have curious facial
expressions when you talk 'tech' to them, and the primal noises they make
when trying to answer something that they obviously know little about.. to
make you feel a little less personally targeted by their inability to take
ownership of mistakes, the Crappy Tire depot in Hawkesbury has a bad rep
and, as I understand, the Casselman and La Chute depots are no better.. what
really frustrates me is the lack of basic Jeep accessories.. e.g.
distributor cap and associated rotor, rear window wiper arms etc.. but they
do a nice line in polish for Jeeps.. yay..

If your reading comprehension is any example of your work, I'll bet you
can make garages go belly up....

What, are you the 'mic canic' the OP is complaining about that stripped
it out to try and sleaze him for big bucks in labor changing a pan?

I agree - I change my own oil too. Except mine was stripped before I
bought it used - other than that, the car was close to perfect. I
called the used car dealer I bought it from to let them know that they
almost had to buy me a new engine 'cause the plug could have easily
fallen out it was so stripped.

You proabaly meant the opposite of what you wrote.

Actually they would have replaced the oil pan if I had asked them to.

    Speaking of which.......

I'm interested in a waste oil heater. I have some good plans but the oil keeps
accumulating and I haven't found the time to build one. So I'm interested in
    buying a manufactured one.

I am copying this to rec.crafts.metalworking as I bet there's some knowledge
    there on the subject.
