It should have been under warranty as long as you have less than
36,000 miles and you haven't replaced
the stereo with a non-factory unit. take it to the dealer

Most all automobile radios actually have at least two different incoming
power feeds. One is the normal power that is switched at the ignition key
and is normally off. This lead gets powered only when the key is either in
the on or the accessory position. From what you are saying this connection
    seems to be fine.

The other power feed is the standby power which is always active/on. This
feed is used to provide "standby" power to the clock and radio presets so
these continue to function when the primary power feed is switched off.

My guess is that you have a problem somewhere in that 2nd feed. If you have
a Factory Service Manual, it will tell you the color of that wire and you
can measure that it always has 12VDC between it and the radio's ground.
Based on the fact that the replacement radio did the same thing and you are
not seeing any other symptoms that would suggest your battery voltage
dropped below some minimum threshold, the problem has to be either in that
feed or the ground connection itself.

I'd suggest you take it back to the dealer and let them troubleshoot it more
thoroughly now that you both know it was not the original radio unit. You
would need the schematic to determine what components (fuse, relay, etc) and
connectors might be at fault here.

    Reply at the bottom please.

there could be a wiring issue or you could have got a refurbished
stereo and it has the same problem,
there is no way to diagnose an electrical issue over the internet.

take it to the dealer if it's under warranty.

I hope he takes the "take it to the dealer advice! if he trys to check
it himself and screws something up
bye bye warranty! if he shorts out the stereo or hits a wrong wire and
fries the wiring harness it's BIG money!
