mods you can make to smooth out the engine and give more power to a regular
engine PT. There's a lot of complaints on the Internet about rough idling,
surging, hesitation, etc. and I have that. That says ignition system
problems to me but I'm "old school" regarding repairs.

How about a new ignition module, new coil....???? I just got an ad about
    Plasma Booster Ignition Module

    Any ideas????

There are some good threads about ignition mods at www.ptcruiserlinks.com
in the forum. Personally, I've changed to Champion double platinum plugs
(part# 7570) and magnecor 8.5 mm wires. Many people are using a smaller gap,
..040 to .045, rather than the .050 and find that this eliminates some of the
problems you describe. There have been some people that find they have
defective spark plug wires and/or coils.

    Good luck!

Jeez-- just don't suggest a K&E air filter here...
I haven't had any major problem with two normal engine Cruisers with automatic,
but I'll be curious to see what people do suggest

    Hiya all,

    '04 2.0 petrol UK
had the rough idling and big hesitation especially after overrun. The dealer
put in Bosch plugs 'cos they said that the Champion plugs were a known
problem. This made a huge improvement and the dealer said that the
occasional slight hesitation was down to the fuel computer re-setting itself
    and was normal.

    Hmmmmm.
