today when i started the car to let it cool down inside it ran for a bout
4-5 minutes in the driveway and when i got in, it was running hot. i
turned the air off and drove down the road and the temp went down. as
soon as i turned it back on and the car was at an idle then the temp went
back up. i added water and oil and let it sit for an hour before starting
it again and to my surprise i could run the air and it didnt run hot. now
what do you suppose would make it do that?

let me understand this, its so hot out you wanna cool the car, ever hear of
    global warming? gas prices etc...

you have a leak in the air conditioning.

why would you think oil and water would fix the problem?

You didn't read the message thoroughly; the OP didn't say the A/C didn't
work. The problem was the ENGINE overheated; adding water should tell you
it was low on water and that effects engine cooling.

Presumably, he meant the engine temp was hot, not that the interior
temp was uncomfortable. That isn't likely to be a leak in the air
    conditioning.
Well, see, since when he added oil and water it no longer ran hot,
we've got a little bit of confirmation that it was the engine running
hot that he was talking about. And, yes, low oil and low water are
two things that will make the engine run hot (though if it's low oil
it doesn't seem like it would run hot very long...).

So I'll respond with a different question: did you really have to add
both oil and water? They were both low?

The the computer won't let the ac run while it's running hot, to keep from
making the situation worse. How much "water" and oil did you put in? You
know that you are supposed to be using the orange "HOAT" coolent?

Another thing to consider, is the electric radiator fan running? You should
    probably have it checked.
