Runny oil clogs the tube leading to the MAP sensor, causing a Code 13.

I have to pull the tube with the engine running to suck the oil back
into the manifold, then shut off the engine, blow the oil out of the
tube and maybe clean it with solvent. Every few tankfuls I have to
    do this.

The vehicle does not have any oil smoke while running. However, the
next day after a freeway run, there will be a huge amount of oil it
burns off for a minute, then it runs clean.

What's going on? Is there an explanation for the oil accumulation?

I would have to agree. First thing I would check is a clogged/failed PCV
valve. For the $3 I would just replace it to be sure.

it's usually the vac. port to it that gets plugged not the valve

I guess we both have different experiences in this area. I have experienced
    this twice (87 2.6L and 95 3.0L), both cases were a clogged/failed PCV
valve. Not saying that is the only possible cause, just most common (IMO)
    and easiest/cheapest to check.
