    hi all...

i have had the car to the dealer and various mechanics to no avail,
but this is one serious problem i have...

my 91 lebaron (v6/3.0) will not start if it rains or while it is
raining, and if i happen to get caught in a rainstorm, the engine will
lose power and stop running completely, (as if someone pulled the plug
on a fan, the blades keep turing until they come to a stop)... it will
roll to a stop but there is no power whatsoever going to the engine
and it just dies. I cant duplicate it and i have tried to coinside
with the mechanics to have them figure it out in the rain but to no
    avail...

but it can rain and then later that day clear up and the car will run
with no problems and act as thought there wasnt a thing wrong.

as you can imagine this is a horrible feeling especially when going 70
on an interstate and you run into a situation where a sudden shower
comes up and you have no where to pull off safely or quickly.

as a note... this car is on its 4th transmission that was replaced
each time under the warranty but always with a rebuilt one not a new
    one..

any help advice or suggestions in a solution to this problem would be
    greatly appreciated.

    sunny :D

try replicating it with a water sprinkler.

if that works then take to mechanic and have him spray down car.

just a guess but I'm going to say engine electrical harness
probably has green corrosion on main connectors ei engine harness to vehicle
    harness, engine management connectors etc.

  4. Friend had a similar problem with a 91 Sunbird, turned out to be the
distributor less ignition coil pak was cracked and shorted out in the heavy
    moisture.
Does a 91 Lebaron have distributor less ignition?

  5. No, it has a distributor. The cap, rotor, plug wires, plugs and coil are
the first suspects in a simple wet-out situation like this -- and have
    been for many, many decades.

  6. Carry some 'Wire Drier' or WD-40 in your car. When the car dies, get your
can of wire drier/wd-40 and spray the ignition cap and wires. If your cars
runs fine, then you need to replace the cap and/or wires.
