Well seeing as this carb is going to be replaced, I thought I'd play with
the ported vacuum advance a bit.

I drilled a 5/64 th hole just above the throttle plate that now allows
vacuum onto the dist (OSAC) port on the carb.
I chose this size as it closely matches the same opening on my 360 engine ,
on my truck (Although, that ones a holly carb). They seem to have the same
    dist.

At 730 RPM (per label) the advance is about 11 degress (dist disconnected
from vacuum port)(the label says 12 degrees). When I increase the rpm to
about 1500 RPM the advance jumps up to about 18 degrees.
So it looks like the vacuum advance is now working (unless that is the
centrifical kicking in). I have no idea what the values should be (vaccum
and centrifical) for dist advance. The car now idles smothly, doesn't miss,
and accelerates well (notice I did say great, I can't lay rubber).

For all intents and purposes, all is well, but I'm still going to replace
    the carb.

Thanks to one, and all for your help. I never would have figured this
    problem out without your input.
