How many Americans knew that Obama was in Canada yesterday?

OK... we don't have credit-sized birth certs.

ID cards (not issued in the UK yet and I hope they never will be) are
acceptable within the Schengen zone in case one is stopped. Not sure about
rest of EU. I always carry my passport when travelling.

Not sure when one can use driving licences, which are now credit-card type
with pic and signature. Until not so long ago the British licences had no
photos, but now we have standardised the document across the EU. It's only
because I keep mislaying my docs I have a current style. There is not, I
think, a compulsion to get the new-style doc, if your old one is still ok.

(I remember years ago when asked by a police officer in the wilds of
Pennsylvania to show my licence how his face showed deep puzzlement and he
had to consult his superior officer.)

You might find a review of the charter of every major Islamic university
and that of Hamas interesting reads.

Let's talk again in 15 or 20 years and review where things are in these
regards. The proof will be in the pudding. Any discussion today will
just be a futile exercise in mental masturbation, and I have no interest
in more of what we are bombarded with daily.

Services Agency....no mention of "aliens" though....the phrase of
choice is "non-Canadians"

 

Oh, I am well aware of the situation. What's more, every Arab country has a
reference to the Koran in the constitution, IIRC. Groups like Hizbollah and
Hamas seek the overthrow of existing regimes and the introduction of
'Islamic' government.

There are people who denounce western liberal values, who wish to murder
Jews ("Death to Juice" being one notable not-funny poster in a demo), who
seek the death of anyone who has an issue with Islam. Who don't care for
their own lives and those of others when they blow themselves up and fly
planes into buildings (but suicide bombings were invented by the 'Tamil
Tigers' in Sri Lanka...)...

This does not mean that our liberal governments should take remove civil
liberties and do the nasties' work for them. This Labour govt, in power
since 1997, has done us tremendous damage but 'the masses' don't notice or
care.

Indeed, but the IRA never questioned the existence of the 'British State' or
tried to destroy it.

A key difference between Christianity & Islam (the only religions that claim
sole rightness and that you have to be of the faith to get into
heaven/Paradise) is that Christianity gave up violent missionary activity
more than 150 years ago.

According to the 2001 Census the Muslim population of Great Britain was 3%.
Even if it has doubled since then -- which I doubt -- that still doesn't
