How do you CLEAN THE INSIDE OF THE WINDOWS???

Discussion in 'General Motoring' started by Pete E. Kruzer, Oct 8, 2007.

  1. Particularly the windshield. I've tried many different kinds of glass
cleaners including the highly reccomended INVISIBLE GLASS. I think I
have it clean and the next time the sun hits it, it's just a smeared
as ever. I don't want to kinow if it comes from the dash material, the
AC, my breath, etc., I just want to know how to clean it!! Someone
reading this post knows the secret. I hope he/she will sharte it with
    the group.

Clean them with glass cleaner and when dry wipe them thoroughly with a
clean dry paper towel. Dry cloth towel would probably work also.

If you use Armour- all or something similar on your dash, this will cause a
residue to settle on the windshield on very hot days. Use Windex and
newspaper to clean the glass. You will find that it does a better job then
    paper towels

I find the plastic tubes of sheets Glass Plus Wipes work well.
UNfortunately they had one bad batch that left a film and then it went off
the market for a while. I called and complained and they sent me coupons
for replacements and a carton to send the bad ones back. I buy them in
batches. They are available at Walmart last time I looked but that was a
while ago. Best thing I have found for glass.

What's worked for me is to clean it with just about any glass cleaner,
making sure I keep cleaning until the paper towel I'm using comes away
clean. Then when if it shows streaks next time the sun hits it (which
happens far too frequently...), wash it again. If I keep up with it,
eventually the windshield ends up clean.

Cheap white vinegar, water, paper towels.

Make a solution of one part vinegar to five parts water, get the towels wet,
rub all over the window, then wring out the towel and rub the windows until
    almost dry.

    Works every time.

    Also good for mirrors.

  7. hi, u can also use methylated spirits and news paper , but no matter what
glass cleaner u use , even theh streak free cleaners , u always have to
rub over window with a clean rag to get the residue of.

I hear lots of this, but frankly I've never had a probem with plain old
Windex and paper towels. If you use cloth towels, be SURE that they
aren't washed or dried with any sort of fabric softener, since it will
stay in them for many washings and make it impossible to get glass dry
without leaving a film. In fact, we've quit using any form of fabric
softener, PERIOD, because towels just don't dry as well when we use it.

And be aware that it won't STAY clean for more than a couple of weeks no
matter what. Yes, its all of the above- your breath, dash material
out-gassing, upholstry and carpet and interior plastics out-gassing,
junk in outside air brought in by A/C, etc.

Some folks have reported problems when using window cleaners that are
ammonia based if you get carried away and clean clear plastic parts of
the dash, instrument cluster. The plastic can fog permanently. Use
    vinegar based products on plastic.

  10. Doesn't it depend on the quality of the newspaper?

In which case one should be sure not to use the New York Times or
    Washington Post. :)
