    In General Schvantzkoph
    Pontiac and Oldsmobile had no value when in the inept hands of GM;
someone else could probably have made good use of the names.

Maybe the government could show how well it can manage a business by
taking over the day-to-day operation of Saturn.

LOL! Don't confuse liberals with details. The narrative has to fit
with their current agenda before it will be acknowledged.

I remember not too many years ago (probably less than 15) when one of
the liberals' most common attack on conservatives was that they were
"anti-semitic". If a conservative said anything that was even just
*neutral* on Israel, they were branded anti-semitic. Now if you say
anything favorable (or neutral) on Israel, you're considered a bigot
because liberals now consider Israel as evil. What idiots.

Just like in 2006, Hillary Clinton said (and this is a direct quote):
"Dissent is the highest form of patriotism". *NOW*, if you are
protesting, liberals automatically label you a bigot simply because
    Obama is the President.

  3. Conservatives DO like Obama. They like his Guantenemo policy
(indefinite detention, yay. OK, Cheney's upset at his lack of
support for torture, but that's just _one_ conservative). They like
his surveillance policy (warrantless wiretapping, yay). They like his
policy on gay marriage (boo). They like his financial policies (pretty
    much the same as Bush's).

    depends on who you poll....

Are those barber poles? Magnetic poles?

Those "poles" show people want health care reform and want a
    government option.

Iran never did any such thing. That was an extremely creative (read:lie)
translation by the US government repeated by a media that doesn't check
things out. What was really said was something about the current Israeli
    government needing to go away.

posted before addressing the second part. There is nothing 'illegal'
about the new facility either. First, it's in their country making it
impossible to be illegal. Second they complied with the treaty signed by
notifying the IAEA more than 6 months before it went online.

Supposedly we, France, and Britain have known about this facility
for a year or more. Do YOU known when it went online, because
they had not notified the global community at all until they were
openly accused by Obama a few days ago.

I don't understand your point. If Obama was going to lie, he'd be trying to END war through deception.

Then again, it's a given that Obama is a liar. Check his stance on Afghanistan during the campaign, compared to his actions right now. The two can not be reconciled, unless Obama lied during the campaign.

Note I agree with Obama's actions. But he's definitely doing the opposite of what he earlier said he must do. What he said he would do, and what he is doing, are in direct conflict. -Dave

That would be painting with a broad brush. He was wrong about a lot
of things, tunnel visioned. I was as sick of his administration as anyone.
(And I am already approaching nausea with the current administration.)

But, as we say, "even a blind pigs sometimes finds an acorn".

He was wrong, in many ways, about Iraq. There were no weapons
of mass destruction left, BUT Saddam had hoped to reopen that
    research.

Time will tell what the true story is in Iran.

"Reopen" being a key word -- he had had weapons of mass destruction in
the past, and he was acting exactly as one would expect him to act if he
had them again. It's no surprise that the conclusion was he must have
them again, they just hadn't been found. Hussein made a *really* bad
miscalculation in how far the US could be pushed while using us as a
demon to drum up support at home (arguably, Bush was doing the same
thing, of course, but had a much larger army).

Notification occured before then. It is under construction, not in
operation. The IAEA was notified 21-sept-09. This took a few seconds for
    a google search to find.

  16. And they were removed by war and then by UN inspectors.

So? We invade because he's a good actor?

And for this, we spend 700 billion dollars and 4000 American lives?
Because "he had them in the past so he must have them now"? That's
the level of intelligence you expect from the CIA, NSC, etc?

Yes, he had had them but did not when this happened. Hans Blix repeatedly
told the USA that there were no WMDs, but we waded in anyhow.

My information comes from sources that were within Saddams research.

This is more than just a mistake.. it was total ignorance of strategic
    intelligence....

Saddam did make a big mistake. We sort of made one too.
BUT, Saddam did intend to return to WMDs.

  20. That's a rather curious desire.

Looks like you want to live in anarchy.

In general governments have an influence on our lives and make sure
precisely that not all "do with their lives as they pleased".

Parliaments spend their days passing laws that affect some or all of us.
One can argue that too many laws are passed, but the even if they pass less,
    they still pass laws.
