Consumer Reports just tested a Lotus, of all things! Its not exactly a
road car like a '53 Buick, but it is fast and thrifty on gas, despite its
"290 hp" engine. So how did they do it?

    Short answer: 2000 pounds.

Ford, Chevy and Daimler, get the lead out.

How did it do in cash tests? How well did the a.c. work? How many
speakers does the audio system have? What kind of GPS navigation system
does it have? Maintenance requirements? Does it have cooling of the
driver's seat? 4-wheel drive? Does the baby seat face backwards or
forwards? Does the sun roof work well? Is there room in the trunk for
    a subwoofer and luggage?

I believe that's 190hp...which makes it even more impressive

more like 1975....you count pounds in a Lotus.
Don't crash as you will most likely die. Good news is that it is extremely
good at avoiding crashes....as long as you are.

How well did the a.c. work?

Not only that.....how long will it work?

    How many
    I'll guess two.

What kind of GPS navigation system
It should as there is no room for maps.

    Maintenance requirements?

Good Toyota engine. Bad it's a Lotus...although I hear they
have cleaned up their reliability act quite a bit since the good old days.

Does it have cooling of the
Yep. When it's cold outside the heat from the driver's ass conducts right
through the quarter inch or so of "padding" and easily transfers through the
aluminum chassis, thereby making the driver's bottom and the outside air
approximate the same temperature. Of course in the summer......

    4-wheel drive?

No, but it does have four wheel drift.

Does the baby seat face backwards or
Sorry...no room for a baby seat. Maybe room for a baby. Maybe not.

Does the sun roof work well?

You bet. It comes right off in a second or two. When it's up, the sun stays
out but the rain is another matter.

Is there room in the trunk for
If the subwoofer is a toy poodle with it's own carrying case.

But all said and done...I will take a yellow one, please!

  6. It did great. Because of it's superior braking, turning and acceleration,
it can avoid accidents that other larger vehicles can't.
Unimportant. # of speakers is meaningless and tells you nothing about the
    sound quality.
It doesn't. That means one less expensive electrical item to break.
If you want, you can buy an aftermarket unit that you can take with you
from car to car. It will cost alot less too.
Nothing special. It uses a Toyota engine.
    Yes, it is called AC.
No, it does not have 4WD, but then it doesn't need it either.
That is not car dependent. That is usually related to your childs age and
    size.
    Better than you imagine.
Most cars don't have subwoofers, so why should this one? If you pack light,
    there is plenty of room.
