Sorry to be so exact -act -act -act -act -act :)
Calm down, calm down. Don't go off the deep end over it.

I will paraphrase my previous post (and what I posted previously agrees
    with the following):
In both lines (the "heart attack" line and the "Cadillac" line) - the
repeated sound is "ack" (or "ac" if you will), and in both cases (the
"heart attack" line and the "Cadillac" line), the "ack" ("ac") sound is
repeated 5 times after the original word. To wit: "...heart attack -ack
-ack -ack -ack -ack", and "...Cadillac -ac -ac -ac -ac -ac". I'm not in
the music biz, but I think they call something like that a "hook" or a
    "gimmick".

The repeated sound on the "Cadillac" line is definitely *NOT* "lac", nor
is it repeated only 3 times.

I then stated that I checked several lyrics sites (and they *all* agree
    - not one had "lac" after "Cadillac") and that I just listened to the
actual song from the "Stranger" album. (Full disclosure: Some lyric
sites had no repeat sounds after "heart attack" and "Cadillac" - an
obvious simplification on their part - but of those that did have the
repeated sounds, it never was "lac" after "Cadillac". One site had the
"ac" after "Cadillac" repeating 6 or 7 times - all the others had it 5
times, which is what is on the recording if you listen to it.)

That make it clear? Proof is in the pudding - listen to the song.

  3. Thanks for the clarification. I went to only one web site and that,
unfortunately, had lac lac lac instead of ack ack ack ack or ac ac ac
    ac ac :)

I forget my basic statistical instincts and a sample of one is a no-no.

Your notion of actually listening to the record is radical. And
empirical. But then I don't have that track. I do have Pianoman or is
it Piano Man? I did find a sample of the record but the free sampling
was only a few lines which did not reach down to
    Cadillac-ac-ac-ac-ac-ac.

One other possibility is to buy the sheet music. Somewhere in storage I
may even have Billy Joel's piano sheet music. But then I will also have
to buy a keyboard which I have been meaning to do since I sold my
    piano.

Do I fix my Voyager or do I buy a piano?

    I didn't have it either - except on a vinyl - but I don't have anything
to play vinyls with any more. So I spent a whole $0.99 and downloaded
it from iTunes to make sure.

I did go into my closet thinking the words were on the jacket or
something - and they were printed in the jacket liner. Guess what?
They didn't have any repeated sounds.
I just checked the listing on iTunes - it's "Piano Man".
Yeah - I tried that too, but finally just downloaded it. So he got
royalties twice from me on that one freakin' song!! Thanks to you! :)

  5. Thanks for going to all that trouble. That's impressive. Is there
something obscure you want me to look up for you? Or better, a dollar
    bill via paypal?
