    :?:
My 1999 Caravan 3.0l Engine starting pinging/knocking this winter.
First only upon startup when very cold, now it lasts 3-5 minutes until
the engine is warmed up. Just changed oil again at regular interval.
No change. Could this be a problem with a sensor, oil pump or cheap
    gas?
    Much appreciated.

  3. It could be a problem with "a sensor". It could be a problem caused by
cheap gas. It's nothing to do with the oil pump.

What you need to do now is get the van in for proper diagnosis and repair.
Guessing and throwing parts at it is an unreliable, expensive way to try
    fixing it.

If you've been running cheap gas, especially cheap Canadian gas, it's
likely your combustion chambers are thoroughly crudded-up and in need of
    cleaning.

Are you getting the word pinging and knocking confused???. normally on a
cold start up there is no ping, (no heat no load.)...... sounds like you
may have an internal engine problem maybe???
