how to deactivate the automatic door lock system on a 97 LHS? Once you
get up to 15 mph, the doors lock and it's just a nuisance. I thought
there might be a fuse to control it but I can't find it. Thanks in
    advance.

Nuisance? Are you planning to enter and exit the car while it's traveling 15+
    MPH?

  3. The procedure should be in your owner's manual. I've done this with
both of my minivans, but I can't remember from memory how it is done.

Yup dealer, have to put a scanner on it....I had mine done when I got
another remote, charged me $30 for both...
I think it was '98 they changed things and you could do it
yourself...something like the key on off on off on then lock the doors,, it
beeps and that it.. have to check the manual though.

  6. My 96 minivan didn't need a tool to change this setting, nor did my
2003. Maybe the LHS is different, but I can't imagine they change the
computer that much from one car model to another.

I too wonder why you wouldn't look it up in th owner's manual, but here
it is (at least from my '99 Concorde manual - should be the same,
    certainly in your owners manual):

"The Automatic Door Locks can be enabled or disabled by performing the
    following procedure:

"1) Close all doors and place the key in the ignition.
"2) Cycle the ignition switch On and Off 4 times ending up in the Off
    position.
"3) Depress the power lock switch.
"4) A single chime will indicate the completion of the programming."

My owner's manual says take it to the dealer so I guess the scantool
is the only way to go. I was hoping for a home remedy and tried Bill's
advice ~ but no dice. Thanks guys!

  11. No, but the locks don't revert to their pre 15mph + stage after you stop
    again.
