The CD Player just displays "ERR..." on our 96 LHS.

Can it be repaired or does the whole radio/CD unit need replacing?

    Thanks,

    Ron

Try getting some canned air and cleaning it out. What condition or type are
the cd's also. If they are copied cd/r's sometimes they'll give problems.
Barring that you may find it more expediant to replace it. If you decide to
do so there are some decent 1.5 DIN units from Alpine and Pioneer you can
get. These will look like they belong as opposed to the smaller decks with
    adapters.

Mine does this when I try to play a homewritten burned CD-R in it.
Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't.

Allot has to do with the write speed when burning your CD's. Writing
at the slowest speed possible results in a longer lasting "image" on the
disk. Also, when not being played, important to keep home recorded CD's
in a dark place. Sunlight will slowly erase the data recorded by
altering the dye layer in the CD.

I am getting the error with commercially produced CDs as well as homemade CDs.
It is happening on all CDs.
