The power steering rack on my 2002 T&C was leaking, it was replaced at
the dealer. When I drove the car from the dealer the power steering had
a slight shutter when turning, the shutter would be intermittent and
light, I took the car back and the service manager told me that it would
take from 500 to 1000 miles to bleed the trapped air in the rebuild
system, I asked him to use a vacuum pump and bleed the system that way,
he took the back into the shop and when he returned few minutes later he
said that the mechanic checked the installation and all is well, all I
have to do is drive the car with the shutter for the next 1000 miles.

I have vacuum pump at home and would like to bleed the power steering
myself but I don't have the cap with the vacuum hose nipple, where can I
    get one of those cheep.

Usually turning the wheels al the way both directions several times
will bleed out any air. Do check the fluid after doing this.

I own two Chrysler products and I would expect the service manuals
    suggest the same thing.

jack there is a procedure for getting the air out and it does require th
use of a vacuumpump and a stopper with a tube in it to seal off th
resorvoir. If you are creative you can make one of these. keep in mind tha
if the inner tie rod seals are leaking the nise will come back. The
probably replaced your pump because you were complaining of a noise
normally this noise is caused by a faulty rack and NOT the pump. Als
driving this vehicle and turning the wheels form one stop to the othe
will purge the air from the system.
