Battery light stays on

    2003 PT Cruiser 172k miles

    just bought it a few weeks ago. Son drove it for a day or two, the battery light came on and the dash gauges would go from working to not in the middle of driving.

    alternator tested low so we replaced it. Battery tested low so we replaced it. Ran good for about 24 hours. Then battery light came back on and it died in the middle of driving.

    battery light doesn’t turn off now. Runs if it is jumped but doesn’t stay on for long. We have checked and cleaned all grounds. Checked the wiring and belts and can’t find anything wrong.

    any ideas?
