    Hi Group:

I'm changing the fluid and filter in my 2000 Caravan 3.0l/4 speed.

purchased ATF+4 and filter/RTV from dealer.

What is a reasonable length of time to allow the RTV to cure before
    re-filling the trans-axle?
it seems to cure more slowly than regular "kitchen/bath" stuff.

    Thanks!

    Kevin,
I don't have an answer for you, but for future reference, be aware that
Chrysler has an alternate metal gasket to use instead of the special
RTV. I have heard no complaints of problems with those - used one
myself on my Concorde with no problem. You might prefer the metal
gasket in the future (less mess, re-usable, etc.)

    Bill:

Thanks for the tip. I wish I had known that about 12 hours ago!

I had to make an emergency run to the dealer this morning as I discovered to
my dismay that I had the wrong filter/gasket kit AND the wrong ATF. They
just gave me a tube of the rtv. I had to do the job with much haste and, as
a result, ended up with a leak.
I just finished re-gooping the pan and tightened it down. I won't add fluid
    until morning.
It looks like there is not much contact between the pan and tran. case in
    the trailing left corner.
