Amphicar best choice for Gulf Coast area?

I wonder if there were any Amphicars in the flooded areas, particularly New
Orleans? The company that makes them should think about cranking up
production because I see a definite market for this lifesaver. If it
floods, you could load the family, pets, legal documents, and prized
possessions and boat your way out to dry land and drive on from there. For
me, that's a perfect solution to hurricanes and levee collapses.

Despite being way ahead of its time, the public didn't take to the Amphicar
because nobody thought we would ever have a Great Flood, but we did.

  2. Great idea if you want to live on the water. Most of the folks in New
    Orleans
    don't.

I watched a documentary on those cars. While they were a good idea,
they indicated that they were prone to rusting which would lead to
    leaks.

Now who'da thunk it? Rusting? In a car that goes in the water? Water and
    steel? Rusting? Wow!
