I just had the pads replaced and it worked fine for awhile but then the red
Brake! light came on and the pedal got real stiff. I mean REAL stiff like
the power booster is bad. What else could it be if not the booster and is
it safe to drive if I maintain a clear distance between me and the car in
front of me as I drive it to the repair center. And is this an instance
where a used part would be OK? I just put a fortune into a new steering
rack and brakes for this car and I'm reluctant to spend too much more as it
has 145,000 miles. (I bought it at 119,000) I love the car otherwise but
    MAN what a lemon.

Do you hear a buzzing noise from the dash area? You could have a problem
with the pump which is under a lifetime warranty btw. You may have mucked up
one of the tone wheels also which can give the symptom.

Ever since I got it the ABS light has been on and there's been a delay in
shutting down when I turn the key off; it takes 2 - 3 seconds for the car to
shut down. Now the ABS light is off but the BRAKE! light is on; perhaps it
will be covered by the recall warranty.

So what you're saying is you bought a car WITH problems knowing they were
there and than call it a lemon? Unless you got it for dirt cheap why buy it
in the first place? Besides by your post you've put quite a few miles on
this "lemon" even with the "issues". Kinda makes me wonder......why?
