Long story short, while driving from Phoenix to Texas, my car overheated. Got it towed to a shop in Vega,TX. They informed me that it would need a new head gasket and wouldn’t be able to make that repair at their shop. So I had it towed to a shop in Amarillo. Today. They messaged me with an estimate of $8700! Said that it was more than just a head gasket replacement. This sounded kind of inflated. Since I only paid $1600 for the car 2 years ago. Aside from the overheating, I’d had no issues with it and it ran fine. Does $8700 sound right or am I about to be hosed? Sorry for lack of detail, but will respond to questions quickly. Thanks in advance. Btw. 2.4 convertible.
