Where is the oil light in the fancy one?
On the tacho face, next to the "Check Gages" light.
Is there a "Check Gages" light in the fancy one?
See above.
I was surprised when I discovered that the plain one has a "Low Fuel" light. I should say rather an icon that 10 seconds of mental decoding tells one "oh, it must be a gas pump, fuel must be low". :) Like the oil can light.
Yeah, remember when cars had gauges labelled "Amps" or "Alternator", "Temp" or "Temperature", "Fuel" or "Gasoline", "Oil" or "Oil Pressure"? Some of them had indicator lights that said "BRIGHT" or "BEAM", or "AMP", or "GEN" or "OIL" or "TEMP" or "HOT". And the switches were labelled: "LIGHTS" "WIPERS" "LIGHTER" etc. Nowtimes, everything's represented by icons EXCEPT for the warning light that says "BRAKE", which is a requirement of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 101 (Controls and Displays). It's OK for the light to display the international icon that looks like (O) (!), but it also has to say "BRAKE".
