    Hi everyone.

I bought one month ago a 95 neon. The check engine light is on for one week.
Code 31 "Evap purge flow monitor failure or evap solenoid circuit".

May this problem cause some damage to some part of the vehicule (exhaust,
    or...) ?

I found a great link about a modification to do on 95 neon manufactured
    before Nov 23 1994:
    http://www.neons.org/neontsb/TSB/18/182694.htm
My car has probably been manufactured before Nov 23 1994, so I should do
this modification. Does the VIN number include the exact manufacturing date
    (I can't find this MDH 1123xx number anywhere) ?

But do you think it is really important to deal with this problem ? What if
I do nothing about it ?

Actually, I have a milage of 18 Liter per 100km (twice the "normal" milage)
those days in Quebec, where the outside temperature is very low (-20C). I
drive very slowly in Montreal city.

Any input is very much appreciated.

    Thanks.

    Alan.

No, the VIN doesn't contain the car's build date, but there is a sticker on
the driver's side door (IIRC, it's above the tire pressure sticker) that
lists the car's manufacturing code and build date.

    HTH. HAND. :)

  4. call your dealer with the VIN number and they will tell you the date of manufacture.
